Nature scenes fall apart in one of two ways. Either the trees look fake, or there are so many high-poly trees that Blender crawls and you cannot even orbit the viewport. Building a believable forest, a park, a garden behind a building or a savanna at sunset takes hundreds of plants, in enough variety that nothing repeats visibly, and all of it has to stay light enough to actually work with. Most artists solve this the slow way: download a tree here, a grass pack there, mismatched materials everywhere, and a scene that never quite feels like one place.
Botaniq Trees, by polygoniq, is built around exactly that problem. It is one of the longest-running vegetation libraries for Blender (it has been on Superhive for about seven years, with over 30,000 sales and 27 updates), and the whole point of it is consistency and performance: assets that look like they belong together and render without eating your RAM.
What You Actually Get
The full library holds over 1,300 assets: more than 1,000 models, 185 biomes and 83 curves. That sounds like a headline number until you look at how it is organized. The catalog is split into clear categories, so you can go straight to what a scene needs instead of scrolling through one giant pile:
- Trees: coniferous and deciduous species, palms, saplings and tropical trees, many with named real species such as spruce, pine, larch, oak, beech, birch, linden, willow and coconut palm.
- Grass and meadows: cut and striped lawns, dry and frosted grass, tall ornamental grasses, wildflower meadows and weeds for pastures, riverbanks and swamps.
- Plants and shrubs: hedges, flowering shrubs, ferns, bamboo, succulents and cacti, plus indoor plants such as monstera, ficus and rubber plant.
- Flowers: individual species and ready-made flower fields and beds, from lavender and sunflowers to poppies and tulips.
- Ground detail: forest floor debris, mushrooms, moss, fallen leaves, rocks, pebbles and cobbles.
- Garden and architecture helpers: ivy in wall, window, corner and hanging variants, vines, pergolas, trellises and even hedge mazes.
- Water plants: lily pads, including blooming versions.
That range matters more than the raw count. A landscape scene needs the tall tree, but it also needs the ferns under it, the moss on the rock, the fallen leaves on the ground and the ivy climbing the wall. Having all of that from one source, built to one standard, is what stops a scene looking assembled from parts.
Biomes: Whole Ecosystems in One Click
The 185 biomes are probably the fastest way to fill a big area. A biome is a ready-made mix of trees, undergrowth and ground cover arranged the way that ecosystem really looks, so you are not guessing which plants belong together. The biome list covers deserts (African, Asian, North American and South American variants), coniferous, deciduous and mixed forests in European, North American, Asian and African styles, forest glades, savannas, tropical rainforests and wetlands such as mangroves.
Many biomes come in seasonal versions, typically spring and summer together, autumn, and a separate winter version for cold-climate forests. If a shot needs the same forest in snow, you are not rebuilding it from scratch.
Scatter and Curve Scatter: Stop Placing Plants by Hand
Instead of placing every plant manually, you select assets and scatter them instantly, or pick a scatter preset. The curve scatter tool goes one step further: you draw a curve on a surface and the assets distribute along it, which is ideal for a tree line beside a road, a hedge along a garden path, or a strip of tall grass at the edge of a river. There is also a vine generator for growing climbing plants across surfaces such as walls.
For big open areas you use biomes and scatter. For controlled details you use curves. Between those two you can cover a whole landscape and still direct exactly where things go.
Seasons, Variations and Wind
This is the part that saves the most rework once a scene is already built. The tools polygoniq ships with the library include:
- Season adjustments: change the season, hue and brightness of assets, so the same forest can be spring green, summer, or autumn gold.
- Random transform: quickly randomize scale and rotation so duplicates do not read as copies.
- Branch and leaf masking: mask branches or leaves to create new variations from the same tree. The latest update added this to 974 assets (branches) and 679 assets (leaves).
- Wind animation: add wind to any asset with a single click.
- Geolocation filtering: filter assets by geographical location so a scene set in one region does not end up full of the wrong species.
- Snap to ground and convert tools: from engon, for placing assets on surfaces and converting them between linked and editable.
Built for Big Scenes, With Honest Limits
The core promise is optimization. polygoniq describes the goal as the highest possible render quality in raytracing renderers for the lowest possible RAM and VRAM usage and render time, and says openly that this is a difficult trade-off. Because of that, it helps to know what these assets are and are not:
- They are meant as background and supporting assets, not hero close-ups. The documentation says botaniq is not meant to replace a multi-million-triangle photoscanned tree.
- For a hero shot you can make a specific asset editable and refine it, and in some cases that is enough to push it into the foreground.
- The meshes favor slightly higher triangle counts over alpha overdraw, which suits Cycles, the renderer polygoniq optimizes for. Most assets also render well in Eevee, but Cycles is the main target.
That honesty is a good sign. The value is being able to put a huge number of believable trees behind your subject and still render quickly, not to replace close-up hero vegetation.

Who Should Think Twice
If your work is extreme close-ups of a single hero tree or leaf, a library aimed at optimized background use will not replace a dedicated hero asset or a photoscan. And if you only need one or two trees for one project, the starter or lite version will probably be enough, so start there before you commit to the full library.
If your scenes keep feeling empty, or your viewport keeps freezing under heavy vegetation, a consistent, optimized library is the most practical fix, and starting with the low-cost tier lets you test it on a real scene first.
